IRWIN Industrial Tools will complete its inaugural year in the V8 Supercar Championship Series at the Dunlop Grand Finale this weekend at Phillip Island.
Driver of the IRWIN Racing #26 Ford Falcon Alan Gurr is looking forward to racing at the fast-flowing Phillip Island circuit.
“Phillip Island is a great place to drive a race car, ” said Gurr.
“Very fast and challenging, it requires a lot of commitment.
“Being the last race of the year everyone has a lot to prove. We will be pretty aggressive and aim to qualifying up the order and gain some points to close out the season. “
IRWIN Racing lead engineer Greg Foletta knows that car balance is all-important at Phillip Island.
“Phillip Island is a track where overdriving chews-up your tyres, so we need to have a good balance in the car, ” said Foletta.
“Get it right and the car stays consistent throughout.
“We feel that we have a good handle on our car and the Phillip Island layout. A good consistent run is sure to bring us a good result for the final round of the year. “
Teams take to the track for extended practice on Friday, before qualifying and the opening 27-lap race on Saturday. Sunday’s concludes the season with another two 27-lap races.
