Well to say that Perth didn t go to plan would probably be the understatement of the year.
After our run at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide, we were quietly confident of putting on a good show at the tight Barbagallo layout.
I was incredibly disappointed with qualifying. The #12 Team BOC Falcon just didn t respond to the changes we made on Friday night and with the new qualifying format, changes during the session are very difficult to make as we only have a window of fifteen minutes.
Mastering the new qualifying format is fast becoming the key to a good weekend. At circuits like Barbagallo, if your qualifying run isn t perfect, you tend to struggle for the whole weekend as passing can be very difficult when each car is separated by thousandths of seconds.
