Team BOC have come away from today’s 50 lap practice session happy with the forward progress made since the last round of the championship at Eastern Creek.
The session was marred by a sickening accident involving James Courtney. Both car and driver will line up tomorrow, but the 20 minute delay in proceedings slowed the day’s action. That incident was only one of many as drivers struggled with the Hidden Valley layout.
For much of the session Team BOC’s Simon Wills sat inside the top ten, before eventually finishing in 28th position. Tyres were the main problem for Wills, preferring to keep his better sets for tomorrow.
Andrew Jones in the #12 Team BOC Falcon suffered similar tyre issues, struggling to find a balance in his first two sets. The third however gave Jones a positive outcome and a good basis for tomorrow’s qualifying run. Jones ended the session in 19th position.
The SKYCITY Triple Crown continues on Saturday with qualifying and the first of the weekend’s three races.

“Our two hour session today was a vast improvement on what we had at Eastern Creek. I feel a lot better tonight than I did after practice a fortnight ago. ”
“The first two sets of tyres we ran on today were atrocious as far as grip was concerned. We ran a third set which actually brought the car back to us a little and the car started behaving how I feel it should, so that’s quite a positive heading into tomorrow. ”
Car 14: Simon Wills

“Generally, while we were on similar tyres to everyone else, we were more than competitive. We are reasonably confident that, with new rubber tomorrow, we will be in quite a strong position come qualifying. I think we have made some good gains since Eastern Creek, so I am looking forward to the rest of the weekend. ”
