Team BOC have scored their first points of 2007 today with Andrew Jones making up for yesterday’s dramas with a fine 10th position, in trying conditions, during race two at Winton Motor Raceway.
Having started the race from 29th position after his race one DNF, Jones battled through the changeable conditions and a fought off a potential drive through penalty, to bring the team BOC BF Falcon home in a fine 10th place.
Simon Wills was still having a nasty re-introduction to the category, being turned around early in the race and dropping to the rear of the field. He too fought the on again off again weather, climbing as high as 22nd before engine dramas halted his run with two laps remaining.
That left the final race of the weekend, and hopes were high for more points. From 10th, Jones held position inside the top ten before the compulsory tyre stop, pitting on lap 12 from 3rd position. His run was hampered however, when he, along with several other runners, slid off on the final turn of lap 21 due to mud left on the circuit by another competitor. Jones was forced through the pit lane in order to rejoin the circuit and dropped to 20th position: where he stayed for the remainder of the event.
Wills had another eventful race, forced of the circuit twice in as many laps early in race three. He recovered to finish the race in 23rd position.
The next round of the V8 Supercar Championship Series is from Sydney’s Eastern Creek Raceway on the June long weekend – June 9 to 11.

“The first race today was very similar to yesterdays race one, in that the weather was quite changeable. The race was different from the fact that we started this one from the back because of yesterdays DNF. We were able finish today’s though and finish it strongly in 10th position. That was good from the fact that we opened our points account for the year, but, without trying to put a dampener on it, it could have been so much more after yesterday being in such a strong position and then again in the third race today; I was running quite easily in the top 10 and then after our stop, we felt that we had probably jumped a few of them with some great pit work. But then I slid on some mud or oil or something, as did several other guys and it just dropped me though the order and I just couldn’t make the spots back up. ”
“On a good note though, hopefully we have turned a corner a bit with our cars, they were quite quick today, both in the wet and dry, so now we just need to move towards the next few races and carry that speed across into those. ”

“I got turned around twice in that last one, so we basically started from half a lap behind which made it kind of tough. We decided to say out for a long first stint, praying for the rain to arrive, which it never did. It was a pretty uneventful race after that, I just kept my nose clean and brought the car back in one piece for the guys in the team. ”
