The plan is to repair Bright s car, but with turnaround times between events being on average just three weeks, the attention of the crew will be primarily on preparing the Brad Jones Racing supplied car.
“The assistance of Brad Jones Racing and in particular Brad and Kim themselves clearly shows the spirit of cooperation amongst the Ford teams, ” said General Manager of Fujitsu Racing Chris Jewell.
“The crash in Perth was a massive blow to our team. Although it was a car that had done around four seasons of competition, we had completely updated the car technically and we were delighted with its progression. That s all now a memory, but we will bounce back once we get through New Zealand.
“We have got the car down from the Brad Jones Racing workshop in Albury and are now getting it all together for New Zealand.
“The fact is that we only have a limited time to get that done and then try to learn the car throughout the practice on the Friday of that event.
“With all due respect to everyone involved, the New Zealand round could be a challenging weekend for us.
“Beyond that race we will assess repairing our car, the ongoing assistance of Brad Jones Racing and any other options that could come our way. Thankfully the race after NZ is at Winton which is just a few hours from our base.
“We also have plans to build a car throughout this year for 2008, so our future plans are all still looking very positive. “
The third round of the V8 Supercar Championship Series at Pukekohe Park Raceway south of Auckland is on 20-22 April.
