Britek Motorsport has launched its 2007 V8 Supercar campaign with the unveiling of its Fujitsu Racing Falcon for Jason Bright and IRWIN Racing Ford for Alan Gurr.
Both cars had their first public showing in front of sponsors and the media at the team’s Dandenong South (Victoria) headquarters today.
Russell White Director and Phil Perham General Manager of Marketing and Sales for Fujitsu General joined Nick Pritchard (Managing Director of Australia/New Zealand for IRWIN Industrial Tools) and the drivers to unveil the #25 and #26 BF MKII Falcons.
The event was the official homecoming of Jason Bright, who despite establishing the team three years ago will finally drive for his own operation in 2007.
“Launching today has me excited both from a team owner point of view but also as a driver, ” said Jason Bright.
“As a team owner I’m very excited to continue the relationship with the likes of Fujitsu and Ford. We are also delighted to welcome IRWIN into the V8 game and bring on a fresh talent in Alan Gurr.
“We have worked very hard over the last two years to a point where we can legitimately move forward in the V8 Supercar game.
“The challenge is by no means over, but we do expect some strong performances throughout the year.
“Winning races, rounds or the championship are not part of those goals, but in a series that has 32 cars competing at every event, finishing in the top half of the field is not out of the question.
“We have a test in just over a week’s time at Winton, and then we’re off to start the year on the streets of Adelaide. I can’t wait. “
For Alan Gurr the opportunity to race for a new team and sponsor is a career highlight.
“I have not even driven the car yet and I feel like I’ve ticked so many boxes, ” said Gurr.
“The car looks great and I trust I can do it justice throughout 2007.
“I really want to embrace this opportunity and do the best for the team. The opening test is very important as I get to work with the team for the first time.
“Working with Jason is going to a big bonus for me. You don’t have success in this sport handed to you; you have to go out and earn it. Jason is certainly a case in point. ”
