Fujitsu Racing’s Jason Bright is aiming for a solid finish at the opening round of the 2007 V8 Supercar Championship Series on the streets of Adelaide this weekend.

Running for the first time in his own team, Bright is not aiming to win the Clipsal 500, but rather start the year with a finish in the top half of the field.

“If I finish in the top half I would have achieved a better result than last year where I finished 21st overall, ” said Bright.

“It’s not about comparing last year to this year. It’s about building throughout 2007 with this team.

“This is a very tough competition and Adelaide is the toughest challenge we have in the season. Concrete walls line the track and I know from experience that those walls are unforgiving.

“There’s going to be carnage at some point, we must be clear of that. We have to keep our heads and make the most of the opportunities that come our way.

“Two 250-kilomtres races require plenty of patience and I can’t see everyone showing that.

“It’s going to be hot, but we have prepared for that and I’m sure that will serve us well at the finish. “

The Fujitsu Racing Team has worked throughout the summer to improve the Falcon of Bright, chief engineer Geoff Slater is pleased with how the development has progressed.

“There are a lot of new ideas on this car compared to 2006, ” said Slater.

“Jason has provided plenty of input and we got to shake everything down at Winton last week.

“Most of those ideas have already started to pay off and I’m sure our improvement in race pace will be evident.

“We have the new elimination-style qualifying at Adelaide. It will be an interesting challenge with tyres, but we are confident of making the most of that situation.

“The guys have also worked hard with their pit stops, so we are confident of getting a gain there as well. “

Fans of Fujitsu Racing will also get to enjoy racing with Jason Bright in Adelaide with no-less than five on-board cameras placed in his Falcon. All angles will be covered, including a boot-mounted rear-facing camera.

The Fujitsu Racing team will have two practice sessions on Friday before the three-leg elimination qualifying procedure in the afternoon.

Saturday’s opening 250-kilometre race begins at 2.30pm local time. Sunday’s 78-lap race also starts at the same time. Both races include fuel and compulsory tyre pit stops.
