Delphi Australia has joined forces with Fujitsu Racing with the team capitalising on Delphi’s technical innovation for the 2007 V8 Supercars season.
In addition to a commercial sponsorship of Fujitsu Racing, Delphi is working with the team to implement its Radio Telemetry Module, or RTM. The RTM transmits engine and chassis data from the racecar to race team engineers located in the pits. The telemetry module helps to enhance driver safety and race team strategy by making real-time data available.
Delphi’s Radio Telemetry Modules are used extensively in IndyCar, Indy Pro Series and the Champ Car Racing Series, Daytona Prototype racing and will provide Fujitsu Racing with another edge in the local competition.
Delphi Australia Managing Director Andrew Arapakis, said: “Fujitsu Racing provides a highly visible marketing platform to showcase Delphi’s tested and proven product quality and engineering capabilities. Delphi’s support of the Fujitsu Racing team is an extension of our continued commitment to Ford as one of our key customers in Australia. Through this partnership with Fujitsu Racing, and involvement with the V8 Supercars championships, we are also able to reinforce our support to Australia’s motorsports industry. “
According to Fujitsu Racing team owner and driver, Jason Bright, the use of Delphi’s telemetry system brings significant advantages to the team in 2006. “The Delphi telemetry system is lighter and more compact in comparison to the previous system we used for car to pit telemetry, which is obviously a major advantage for us. The accuracy and technical efficiencies of the Delphi radio telemetry system ensure that our race engineers can view real time performance and reliability data from both of our Fujitsu Racing Falcons while they are on the track. The fast and accurate delivery of this performance data is crucial to assisting our engineers in revealing any potential problems. The Delphi radio telemetry system also empowers our race engineers to accurately analyse the impact of any adjustments that they have made as quickly as possible, ” he said. “We’re committed to delivering strong performances in every race in 2007 and the Delphi radio telemetry module will definitely help our cars to meet this commitment, ” Bright said.
Delphi Corporation’s Director of Integrated Marketing Services Bill Lafontaine said, “We are excited to be working with the Fujitsu Racing team and for this opportunity to continue to bring Delphi’s global racing technologies to the Australian racing scene. We feel this partnership will offer tremendous opportunities for the team in 2007 as we leverage on Delphi’s proven successes in the global racing arena. ”
