Team BOC have completed day two of round four of the V8 Supercar Championship Series disappointed, having been in a very promising position over half way though today’s 40 lap first race.
With only a third of the race to complete, Team BOC’s Andrew Jones sat third on the road, effectively in the race lead, after the team made an excellent pit call early in the race
With only five laps of the race down, Jones was unable to clearly see the track ahead after the window demister in his #12 Falcon failed. Stopping twice under safety car to clear the screen and change tyres, Jones effectively became the race leader after working his way from the back of the field, to third.
Then on lap 25, the GRM car of Dean Canto made an ambitious passing manoeuvre on Jones at turn 10, the contact spinning him back in front of the field. Jones resumed, however the damage was done and he retired on lap 29 with damaged rear suspension.
Simon Wills also had an up and down race, sitting well inside the top twenty for the majority of the race. With only a handful of laps remaining Wills was tapped several times from behind, dropping a couple of positions in the process. He eventually finished his first race for Team BOC in 16th position, one spot outside a points paying position.
Round four of the V8 Supercar Championship Series from Winton Motor Raceway concludes tomorrow with the final two races of the round.

“It was a very interesting day for me. In qualifying, we tried something quite radical to try and overcome some of the setup dramas I have been having. It worked, but probably a little to well and we ended up heading in the other direction. ”
“The race was just mayhem. There seemed to be a lot of carnage and I was just trying to stay out of trouble: I didn’t want to not finish my first race with Team BOC. Everyone seemed to want to hit me and push me off the track, but I managed to say on and was reasonably happy with 16th. ”

“Qualifying was definitely better than it has been and that has probably got more to do with our change in philosophy more that just the fact it is our home track. To start 19th was quite good, it was so tight out there - another tenth would have moved me from 19th to 12th on the grid. It doesn’t get much tighter than that. ”
“In the race, I made quite a good start and we were motoring along quite nicely until the windscreen fogged up and I couldn’t see a thing. It got to the point where I couldn’t even really see the brake lights of the car in front, so it was quite tough. When the pit window opened, we came in and cleared the screen and started to make our way back through the field. Because we had stopped early, as the race wore on we effectively became the race leader behind a couple of car’s that hadn’t come in for their stops, so we were looking quite good. Then Dean [Canto] decided he would slide up the inside of my and we made contact. He was given a drive through pretty quickly after that though so I guess it was quite clear who was at fault. ”
