Glenn McNally Finishes 10th In Delayed V8 Utes Race

Glenn McNally finished 10th in race 1 of the V8 Utes today after yesterday’s qualifying was thrown into disarray after a commuter error scrambled the times.

With no times to go by the officials decided to combine the practice times to achieve a starting grid; Glenn was to start from grid 7, his best position to date.

After the Formula Ford race that preceded race 1 was abandoned after a serious accident, the V8 Utes were pushed back to the end of the program for the day.

“I got a really good start and was able to out-drag Miedecke down the straight and into turn 1,” Glenn said.

“There was a little bit of rain about, not enough to wet the track, but I was probably a bit cautious into turn 2 and lost another place.”

As the race settled down Glenn found himself in 10th place for the remainder of the event.

“It was one of the hottest races I’ve done in the Utes.

“It was so humid out there today, I couldn’t believe it.”

Glenn will now start from grid 5 for the reverse-top-16 race tomorrow.

“If I can get a good result in tomorrow’s race it will set me up for a great finish to the series.

“Now that I have had my first race on this circuit I will have a bit more confidence tomorrow to push harder in the early stages of the race.”

Glenn has race 2 tomorrow with the final race of the series on Sunday.
