Holden Racing Team’s Mark Skaife Rushed To Hospital

HOLDEN Racing Team’s Mark Skaife was rushed to hospital this morning with appendicitis and is unlikely to participate in this Sunday’s Just Car Insurance Sandown 500.

Skaife’s wife Toni said this afternoon; “There’s only a remote chance that Mark would be okay to drive.

“He suffered stomach pains last night then went to a doctor this morning where scans revealed his appendix should be removed.

“The operation finished up being a normal procedure, but Mark was really disappointed that such a thing should happen at this time of year, ” she said.

Meanwhile, Team Manager Robbie Starr was on the hunt for a replacement driver.

“If Mark is out, we will pair up Todd Kelly and Nathan Pretty in Todd’s #22 Commodore and we believe ex-HRT Bathurst winner Tony Longhurst will share with Glenn Seton in Mark’s #2, ” said Starr.

“We hope to fly him down to Melbourne from the Gold Coast tonight in time for practice tomorrow. ”
