Holden won its seventh successive Pukekohe event today with Toll HSV Dealer Team due Rick Kelly and Garth Tander taking the points after the final race was shortened by seven laps due to TV scheduling commitments.
Holden Racing Teams Todd Kelly and Mark Skaife consolidated a strong points haul with Top 10 finishes in each of Saturday’s races. Todd Kelly led the final race briefly after pitstop exchanges, only to be usurped by brother Rick one lap later.
Mark Skaife started out of six only to be jostled back by Will Davidson’s Ford on the first lap. He then held position through the pitstop and safety car periods to come home ninth at race end. Both cars finished unscathed across the weekend and will front up to HRT’s test track of Winton next month with high hopes.
Race 2 & 3 summary
Todd Kelly finished fourth in today’s early race and second to brother Rick Kelly in Race 3, taking 47 points overall from Pukekohe. He sits in third position in this years V8 Supercar Championship on 132 points.
Mark Skaife finished Race 2 in sixth position and ninth in Race 3 to finish seventh over the weekend with 29 points. He sits fifth on the Championship ladder with a total of 104 points.
