Mark McNally has taken on the biggest task of his short V8 Supercar career in the past two weeks – running his own V8 Supercar team.
The West Australian made the decision to ‘go it alone’ for the last two rounds of the Fujitsu Series after racing with Tony D’Alberto Racing (TDR) for ten previous rounds.
With two brothers in circuit racing and one in karts it was inevitable that the McNallys would need to run their own operation to benefit all four brothers.
“I have not had the best run in the Fujitsu Series this year, ” Mark said.
“As we were planning to run our own team next year it was time to make the step and start preparations now.
“We have to consider my brothers racing ambitions also, and this move will help to fulfill their goals.
Mark purchased an ex-Skaife Commodore at the start of the year and will continue running that car with the assistance of Sean Scott.
“Sean and Josh have done a great job getting the car ready for Bathurst, they have worked tirelessly. ”
In his ten rounds with TDR, Mark had a number of top-ten round placings and numerous top-five race results.
“I learned a lot at TDR, ” Mark said.
“I gained a lot of experience there but now it is time to move on. ”
With limited preparation for Bathurst, Mark has set realistic goals for the weekend.
“We know it is going to be a tough weekend for our new team.
“But we will give it our best shot and see where we end up, ” he said.
