Motors TV is delighted to announce an extension to its partnership with the V8 Supercars championship. The ‘High Speed Television’ channel has secured a new three-year rights agreement until 2010, a deal which will enable European fans enjoy Live coverage of Australia’s most popular motorsport category for a tenth consecutive season.

Motors TV Head of Programming and Acquisitions Frederic Viger admitted his delight at the new agreement which makes V8 Supercars the channel’s longest serving featured championship. “We’ve provided coverage of V8 Supercars for longer than any of other categories and it’s a championship which we are very proud of.

“There is a lot to love about V8 Supercars. The cars are very exotic and extremely high profile with a mix of high technology and raw energy.

“Most importantly though is that the racing is really, really good – the best we have seen on Motors TV. The races are very exciting and always have close finishes, while the championship almost always comes down to the final round. ”

The three-year extension will see Motors TV broadcast events in 36 countries including France, the United Kingdom, Germany and Holland. The broadcast takes in 15 million homes and is translated in five different languages.

From next year the channel will expand their coverage to include more coverage of qualifying at selected rounds and more live feeds. This year, the Bathurst 1000 was featured, in full, on a delayed-as-live basis, while the Desert 400 in Bahraïn and the upcoming Dunlop Grand Final at Phillip Island will be broadcast live throughout Europe.

V8 Supercars Australia Chairman Tony Cochrane was ecstatic with the deal which continues the strong association with Motors TV.

“We are very proud of our international television audience and Motors TV is an integral part of it within the European market, ” Cochrane said.

“This helps maintain our international television footprint of some 850 million homes around the world that broadcast our sport live, as live or on close delay depending on the country concerned. ”
