Kiwi V8 Supercar heroes Greg Murphy and Jason Richards will have new generation engines in place when the 2007 V8 Supercar Series heads to the high speed Pukekohe circuit in New Zealand later this month. Both Murphy and Richards will have the Holden Motorsport engines installed in their MTA Tasman Motorsport VE Commodores in time for their all-important hometown round. The new engines have been designed in-house by Tasman Motorsport s Engine Development Manager, fellow Kiwi Royce McCort.
McCort joined the growing team from the factory Holden Racing Team at the beginning of the season. Team manager Graham Jenkins said the new powerplants were a development on the two year old units the team had been running and would hopefully allow Tasman Motorsport to close the gap to the leading HRT and HSV Holden factory teams.
