The Toll HSV Dealer Team collected its second-successive 1-2 round victory as Rick Kelly and Garth Tander scored a stunning 78-points-all draw in the PlaceMakers V8 New Zealand at Pukekohe.
Defending champion Kelly was awarded victory in the last-ever round at the historic track because he crossed the finish line first in the Race 3 finale that was shortened by seven laps due to safety period delays.
Tander, who won the first two races of the round, just needed to pass New Zealander Paul Radisich to finish seventh in Race 3 and gain the extra couple of points to wrap up back-to-back rounds after his big win in Perth.
But as he was lining up the Kiwi for a pass, the chequered flag came out, to his surprise.
Toll HSV has now won all but one of the races this year, with Kelly taking two and Tander five. Kelly’s Pukekohe win follows his Clipsal 500 victory in Adelaide in Round 1 and second placing in the Perth round, which was won by Tander.
