Team BOC has had a positive first day in the Bahrain heat, with Andrew Jones setting competitive times throughout the 2 hour practice session.
Times during the session were again extremely close. Jones aborted his final flying lap, still completing a time good enough for 21st, less than one tenth away from a top 15 position and less than a hundredth from Mark Skaife in 20th.
At a circuit that is all about power down, Wills struggled - unable to get the #14 Team BOC Falcon to put its power on the road as a result of balance issues in the setup of his car. Wills finishing the session in 28th.
Tomorrow will see qualifying and the first race from the Middle East, where again temperature will be a real factor during 31 lap race.
Andrew Jones
“I was quite happy with the car today, it had good balance throughout the session and as the track started to get a bit more rubber down the car responded quite well, which is encouraging. Everyone’s times seem to be up a little bit on last year though, so I expect the times will come down even further tomorrow as more rubber goes down. But, I spent most of the session inside the top 20, which is where we need to be, so hopefully we can aim for the top twenty tomorrow in qualifying. ”
Simon Wills
“For my first visit here, I’m not overly happy with the balance in my car. I’m struggling with both ends of the car really. It doesn’t want to turn in as nicely as I would like, which is then having a negative impact coming off the corner, but hopefully we can have a look at that tonight and settle it down a bit for qualifying tomorrow. ”
