A trouble free trio of races saw 4th overall position go to Mark Skaife as the V8 Supercar Championship was turned on its head in Race 3 carnage at Symmons Plains.
Leader, Garth Tander, lost his series lead to Ford’s Jamie Whincup going into Phillip Island after both Toll Holdens failed to finish.
HRT’s Todd Kelly was caught up in a multi-car accident and was forced to retire.
Skaife moves up the series points ladder to 7th with Todd Kelly 9th going into the last round later this month.

“It’s been mid-year since I’ve got through a round unscathed and it was great to finish running for a podium result. There were no dramas and we used some discretion as others came off second best, particularly in Race 3.
The car was right on the pace and it’s a good omen for Phillip Island. “

“I had a fast car for race three and never got to use it. We’d saved our best tyres over the weekend for that race then Max Wilson ran me into the fence and that caused a lengthy pit-stop to straighten the front body work.
A lap down it got worse when Garth’s giant off sent up a dust cloud which floated over the track.
I took evasive action and thought I was okay until three others ran into me, bending the diff housing - game over. ”
