Team BOC

Team BOC has endured the ups and downs of life at Mount Panorama today, with Andrew Jones qualifying the #12 Falcon in 15th position. The #14 Falcon won’t return to the circuit this weekend however.

Andrew had a reasonably trouble free run, only making one small mistake at the chase, on his way to qualifying 15th. Andrew and Simon will now look to tomorrows final practice session before preparing for the big race on Sunday. The team will tonight strip the drive train from the car, installing all race componentry prior to the final practice in the morning.

Damien White won’t be returning to the circuit this weekend after a horrifying crash at the top of the Mountain. Damien lost consciousness during the accident and was airlifted from the circuit shortly after the crash. He is now stable and under observation.

It is a blow to the team and Damien’s co-driver, Christian Murchison. The damage done to the #14 Team BOC Falcon means that it is unlikely that the chassis will be repaired in time for Indy in a fortnight, let alone Sunday’s 1000 kilometre classic.

Andrew Jones

“Qualifying was quite OK for me, I was happy with the effort I put in. The great thing about qualifying here is that you have a bit more time and a few more tyres so you can push a little more, knowing that you have time redeem yourself if you make a little mistake. I had a little moment at the chase and flat spotted a tyre, but I had time to come in and put another set of tyres on the car and have another go. The good thing is you can find the limits a bit more so you can really push and I feel that that was about the most I was going to get out of it. ”

“The car seems to work a little better on a worn tyre, and we haven’t really been outside the top 13 all weekend, so that is probably a bit more indicative of what will happen come Sunday. ”

Christian Murchison

“First of all, the main thing is Damien is OK. It’s obviously extremely disappointing that the weekend has ended the way it has, but, the main thing is Damien is OK. ”
