Team BOC Focus On The Positives

Team BOC leave this weekend’s Clipsal 500 looking at the positive changes made to the team’s BF Falcon’s, after another disappointing series of events during leg two.

After making a fantastic start, gaining several places, Andrew Jones started to experience back pain early in the race. After completing both compulsory pit stops, Andrew hovered around 20th, up five from his starting position. The pain however, eventually left Andrew with no option but to pit and retire 57 laps into the 78 lap event.

For team mate Brad Jones, his run of bad luck again followed him into today’s race. On lap one, Brad was an innocent victim after Alan Gurr spun in front of him at turn five. The touch with Gurr dislodged the front splitter on the #14 Team BOC Falcon and Brad was forced to pit; the repairs leaving him one lap down and in 27th position. Brad was able to claw back a few positions during the race to finish this years Clipsal 500 in 21st place.

The next round of the 2007 V8 Supercar Championship Series sees all teams make the cross country trek to Perth’s Barbagallo Raceway on March 23-25.

“From about lap 5 we had quite a good race, it was only the first lap that was disappointing. “

“I had nowhere to go on the first lap and I hit Alan’s [Gurr] spinning car, which dislodged the front splitter. When we pitted to repair it under the safety car I dropped a lap, which wasn’t in the plan at all. “

“Overall though, I was happy with the weekend from the point of view of what we have learnt with both of the Team BOC Falcon’s. I guess now we just look forward to Perth in three weeks. “

“I started suffering some back pain about 20 laps into the race. We made the decision to stop; once it was really starting to cause me some problems. “

“I was reasonably happy with the weekend though. The guys in the team did a fantastic job repairing both cars at various stages across the weekend and we have made some real progress with my car in particular since, we arrived here on Friday. ”
