V8 Super Car: Team BOC Has Hit The Ground Running At Mount Panorama

Team BOC

Team BOC has hit the ground running at Mount Panorama, with the car of Andrew Jones and Simon Wills finishing their first run in thirteenth position.

It was a trouble free run for the duo, completing 34 laps around the 6.2km mountain circuit.

It was a far busier day for Damien White in the #14 Team BOC Falcon, sharing duties with Christian Murchison, as well as competing in two practice sessions in his Development Series V8 Supercar.

It was a day of re-learning the circuit for two of the team’s drivers, with Simon not running on the circuit for a few years, and Christian making his return after his only previous start in 2000.

The Supercheap Auto 1000 continues tomorrow with practice and qualifying before the 1000 kilometre enduro on Sunday.

Andrew Jones

“It was a reasonable session for us today. Simon started the session off for us and made some little changes before I stepped in, but I didn’t get a fantastic run because of a few red flags and the like. It was good to get out onto the circuit though; the car feels good across the top of the mountain, really nice to drive – fun to drive. It’s predictable too, which is important round this place. ”

“I got back in the car late in the session, we put a better set of practice tyres on the car, but unfortunately I didn’t get a fantastic run on them, I was held up from turn two basically until I got down to the chase. ”

“Overall, I’m pretty happy with how the car has performed today, and look forward to getting back on track tomorrow. ”

Simon Wills

“For my first time here in three years, it was a good session for me to blow off a few cobwebs and get back into it. The car was quite comfortable to drive so that made things a lot easier for me. ”

“Throughout the session we seemed to have quite good pace, especially since we were on old tyres, and I think that bodes well for the race coming up on Sunday. ”

Damien White

“It took more time than I thought it would have to adjust from my Development Series car to the Team BOC Falcon. But once I settled into a rhythm, we did a time that we thought was acceptable and decided it was best to give Christian as many laps as we could. Towards the end of the session that decision was justified, with Christian punching out some good laps so now we can look forward to tomorrow. ”

Christian Murchison

“Overall I was very happy with the day. Obviously it’s quite difficult for me given that I have had very few miles on this circuit, so to do a 2:13.1 was quite good. Having now sat down with the data I can see where I can improve which is good. Quite happy to have kept it off the wall, build up to it and I think tomorrow will be a better day. ”
