Team BOC has turned a poor qualifying performance into a real chance for points in tomorrows final two races, moving up to sit just outside the top twenty in race one today.
The two Team BOC Falcons of Andrew Jones and Simon Wills have been difficult to separate today, with the cars starting today’s race nose to tail and finishing in convoy at the end of the 50 lap outing.
Jones and Wills had a trouble free race, broken a couple of times by the safety car, the first on lap one to remove a dislodged tyre bundle from the circuit at turn one and the second to extricate the stranded Commodore of Shane Price on lap 36.
The final safety car bunched the field, and enabled Jones to get onto the tail of Dean Canto. The two then traded places, Canto eventually wining the duel, with Jones finishing in 21st, team mate Wills right behind him in 22nd.
Round thirteen, the Falken Tasmania Challenge at Symmons Plains, concludes tomorrow with the final two fifty lap races.

“It was a relatively pain free run for me, didn’t really get caught up in too much until that last safety car came out. After that, I had a reasonable sort of race with Dean [Canto]. It was quite entertaining; we gave each other plenty of room which was good - for a change. About three quarters of the way through the race I had a long [brake] pedal and brake fade into turn seven and down into the hairpin, so we need to try and cure that for tomorrow. As a race car it wasn’t horrendous it be honest, which was good. ”

“The race was interesting, I started on such a dirty line – I have never seen so much dirt on a race track. I actually said to the guys that we would have been better off starting in the gravel trap. That said, I didn’t get a bad start really. After about 5 laps though I started to get quite severe brake fade so the rest of the race was really about looking after them and giving the engine a bit of punishment on the downshifts. We managed to stay out of trouble though and picked up a few spots. Hopefully it’s going to rain tomorrow, if it does, I think we are looking really good, if not, I still think we have a reasonable chance of having an ok stab at trying to get a few points. ”
