Jack Daniel’s Racing’s Todd Kelly and Shane Price have kicked started their weekends with solid times during practice at Hidden Valley in Darwin for this weekend’s SKYCITY Triple Crown.

Kelly recorded the tenth best time in his Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 Brand Commodore, while Price, who has moved from his previous car (chassis # PE 045) into the updated spec PE 046 previously used by his team-mate, was less than two-tenths slower and only three places further back in 13th.

Twice a winner in Darwin, Kelly’s run was slowed when he flat spotted a tyre early, so the 28-year-old expects to continue with his recent good qualifying form tomorrow.

Qualifying for the SKYCITY Triple Crown takes place, with Race 1 following later in the afternoon. The round - the sixth in the 2008 V8 Supercar Championship Series - concludes with two final races.

Todd Kelly, #7 Jack Daniel’s Racing Holden Commodore VE:
“We’re reasonably happy, my Jack Daniel’s Commodore was fast straight up and we got through our program fully. I locked a tyre early and we had to use one from the second set early, so the balance really wasn’t there when we needed it. But we’ve got enough information to make it a good qualifying car, so I’m looking forward to the race.”

Shane Price, #11 Jack Daniel’s Racing Holden Commodore VE:
“Today’s been a hell of lot better than howwe’ve been going, but it’s only practice and it’s pretty close. In terms of the development that Todd’s been doing, he’s made a leap with the new car and specs. At the end of the session I got a bit of a shock with how much grip I had and probably drove within myself. The car itself feels different and half the practice I concentrated on driving style. Fingers crossed for tomorrow, we’re in a decent position.”
