Clipsal 500 winner Rick Kelly and hometown hero Garth Tander will be looking to give the Toll HSV Dealer Team back-to-back victories in the 2007 V8 Supercar Series as they chase a break-through win at Perth’s Barbagallo Raceway this weekend.
The in-form drivers believe they have a great chance to back up Kelly’s first round win in Adelaide with success in Round 2 of the series, the BigPond 400, at the challenging 2.4km Wanneroo circuit.
Both Toll HSV drivers have scored podiums there over the years – Tander in 2000 and Kelly in 2004 – but the top step of the dais has eluded them for one reason or another.
This year, the pair head across the Nullarbor armed with their new VE Commodores that delivered in spades during the first hit-out of the 2007 championship in Adelaide.
Reigning champion Kelly gave his title defence a great start when he crossed the Clipsal finish line first in the #1 Commodore, ahead of brother Todd, to give the new Holden VE Commodore a comprehensive win on debut.
