WOW Racing driver Max Wilson has moved into the top 20 in the V8 Supercar Championship Series standings after scoring points at the BigPond 400 at Barbagallo Raceway in Perth, Western Australia today.
Wilson initially scored points by finishing 11th in yesterday’s opening race of the weekend, but was handed a 23-second on Sunday morning as a result of contact with the lapped car of John Bowe on lap 46 of the race, dropping the #8 WOW Racing Falcon to 23rd place.
This morning in Race 2 Wilson climbed five spots from 23rd on the grid to finish in 18th position. The Brazilian then moved further forwards, with the help of some slick pit work by the WPS Racing crew, to jump into the points with 13th in the third and final race of the weekend.
WPS Racing driver Jason Bargwanna, who opened his championship points account at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide three weeks ago, was unlucky not to add to his points tally in Race 3 today.
Bargwanna started from grid 22 after moving from 25th to 22nd in Race 2 this morning. The #10 WPS Racing Falcon changed to a better set of tyres and made a roll centre adjustment at the pit stop, drastically improving the handling of the car.
