Brands Hatch hosted a special visit this week, as motoring fan Gladys Cocker celebrated her 100th birthday at the circuit with a high speed passenger ride!
Gladys - who turns 100 on 2nd December – became the oldest person ever to take part in a Brands Hatch driving experience when she was driven around the Indy circuit in a Mégane Renaultsport by an instructor.
The passenger ride was a birthday gift from Gladys’ son, Ian Cocker. However, the soon-to-be centenarian is no stranger to being behind the wheel, as she only stopped driving aged 92!
Gladys, who lives in Chingford, Essex, said: “I had a lovely ride, I’d quite like to go out and do it again! I love speed - I used to go out on the back of my son’s motorbike and, even now, when I’m on the bus I still lean into the corners when it goes round a bend!”
