Friday Dec. 5th was a birthday experience that I will never forget. Not only did I get to actually drive a previously-driven, second place Indianapolis 500 car on the Orlando Speedway, but I also had family members from South Carolina with me, along with my fiancé., George Wilber, who decided a long time ago that my 60th birthday needed to be something very special.
So, on November 19th, the Indy Experience opened at the Orlando Speedway for the first time, a 90-day trial experience to see how it will work in the Disney area.
To say that the ride was just fantastic, would be a total understatement. During my 8th lap, I had decided I would not get out of the car at all, but just keep going around the track, avoiding the pit area. But, I decided that might not be a wise thing to do for my first time!
The pit crew was extremely excited to report that I had recorded the fastest speed so far. I guess it amazed them to know what a new-60-year-old woman could do in a $300,000.00 Indy car driving alone on the speedway. As always, I was pleased to have the opportunity to help educate them!
