Stobart VK M-Sport Ford team driver Jari-Matti Latvala and co-driver Miikka Anttila have battled the slippery conditions tonight, finishing the Cordoba Stadium Super Special stage in second position. Crews were welcomed by the near capacity and highly vocal crowd who were treated to some incredible displays of sideways action by the world’s top rally talent.
All seven of the mountainous leg 1 stages were cancelled today due to dangerous weather in Buenos Aires last night. The terrible conditions meant several crews and officials were stranded overnight at the airport after the opening stage at the River Plate Stadium.
This forced the rally organisers to cancel all of today’s main stages as many competitors did not return to Cordoba until this afternoon. The only competitive test was the 2.4 kilometre run in Cordoba Stadium this evening.
As competitors need to complete at least two thirds of the event’s total stage mileage to qualify for full championship points, rally organisers may decide to amend the itinerary for the remainder of the event in order to comply with this regulation.
