o Daniel Carlsson and Denis Giraudet within scoring ranks
o Manfred Stohl and Ilka Minor lose five minutes after spin
The OMV Kronos Citroen World Rally Team had to fight several problems on the morning of leg two of the “Vodafone Rally de Portugal”. Daniel Carlsson/Denis Giraudet (Swe/Fra) were nevertheless able to move up into scoring ranks and lie in seventh place at halftime of the rally. The race to catch up by Manfred Stohl and Ilka Minor (A) was stopped on the tenth special stage. Following a spin the OMV duo lost five minutes and dropped back to eleventh overall place.
No grip, no feeling – yet fast
The course of the race in the beginning of day two was inexplicable for Daniel Carlsson. Despite complaining of missing grip the Swede of the OMV Kronos Citroen World Rally Team moved up from ninth to seventh place during the first three special stages up to the noon service. Carlsson. “It had stopped raining just prior to the start of the eighth special stage. The roads were incredibly slippery. I completely lost all feeling. The more I am astonished that we reached very satisfying times. Especially inexplicable, but gratifying, to me is the big lead on Galli who also steers a Citroen Xsara WRC. “ Now the 30-year-old Scandinavian needs to secure this result to score points like he did at the previous two assignments for the OMV Kronos Citroen World Rally Team.
