#Worldwide first CO2-neutral rally team in the FIA WRC
#Official award by CarbonNeutral Company
#Offset projects neutralise 1,776 t of CO2-emissions with focus on OMV and FIA World Rally Championship countries
OMV, Central Europe’s leading oil and gas group, supports the first CarbonNeutral® rally team worldwide. A quality assurance was undertaken which resulted in 1,776 t of CO2-emissions for the whole team during the racing season 2007 which will be neutralised. The focus of the offset projects, which will save the respective level of CO2, is on countries in which OMV is active and where events of the FIA World Rally Championship take place. For instance, two of the three energy efficiency- and regenerative energy-projects are situated in New Zealand, respectively Germany. Thereby the OMV pilot project utilises the existing general framework of this racing series in the best possible way. One is additionally and actively working on alternatives: the OMV Future Energy Fund financially supports projects for regenerative energies by over EUR 100 Mio and in rally sports the natural gas-project was further developed – this season OMV together with Stohl-Racing employs a CNG Mitsubishi Evo IX in the National Championship.
