No less than two OMV BIXXOL Rally Teams will tackle the “Rally Argentina” from May 3 to 6. Thereby the Romanian OMV duo Claudiu David and Mihaela Belide will celebrate their premiere in the FIA World Rally Championship. They are not yet entitled to score points for the FIA Production Car World Rally Championship therefore their main objective is to gather experience. For Stepan Vojtech/Michal Ernst, on the other hand, there is more at stake. Following sixth place in Mexico the Czech OMV duo wants to further improve their performance.

Points as paramount goal

The OMV BIXXOL Rally Team CZ has scored points for the first time with sixth place at the Rally Mexico in the FIA P-Car WRC ranking. Following these three points Stepan Vojtech (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX) has redefined his objectives. From now on the word is to gather as many WRC-points as possible at each rally. He has already gained experience in Argentina last year. Vojtech: “Last year I found out that Argentina is a very tough rally. But we have learned from our mistakes. This year we have high expectations and definitely want to score points at the Rally Argentina even though the starter field of 23 cars will be a tough one. “

Learning first, attacking second

Claudiu David, the Romanian of the OMV BIXXOL Rally Team, will celebrate his WRC-premiere in Argentina. The 28-year-old OMV driver in the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX, set up by Stohl-Racing, is nevertheless confident for his first time. David: “It is a fantastic opportunity and also a big challenge. At first we naturally want to get used to the conditions. If everything should go according to plan we will then try to increase the speed. “ The Romanian OMV Team is not yet entitled to score points for the P-Car WRC in Argentina. They will only be able to do so later on at their assignments in Japan and at the season’s finale in Wales.
