The Confederation of Australian Motor Sport commends Standards Australia on the release today of its new handbook titled ‘Guide to Managing Risk in Motor Sport’. Nearly three years in the making, the guide complements and supports CAMS’ existing risk management initiatives and methods to make motor sport as risk free as possible. CAMS also acknowledges the significant input made to this publication from many areas of motor sport, including Motorcycling, Drag Racing and Speedway Racing as well as from disciplines of four-wheel motor sport conducted under its own auspices. “This guide reinforces the directions CAMS has taken with its own Risk Management Project for several years now and we are pleased to have been able to contribute to its content, “ said CAMS President Colin Osborne. “We believe CAMS’ lead in the important area of risk management and its use of internationally recognised methodology to identify, assess, control and reduce risk will motivate all those involved in motor sport organisation, both here and abroad, to properly manage the risk in their activities, “ concluded Osborne. Professor Rod Troutbeck, Chairman of the Standards Australia Working Group responsible for the publication, is also a member and past chairman of the CAMS National Track Safety Committee and current member of the Research Advisory Group to the Australian Institute for Motor Sport Safety (AIMSS) recently formed by CAMS. http://www.autoracingdaily.com/7413/
